Dynamic Duos & From Justin to Kelly (3/23/23)
This past Thursday was all about team building and partnership at our monthly Dynamic Duos Improv night, followed by a special one-night-only guest show from touring duo From Justin to Kelly!
Dynamic Duos, hosted by Cam Godfrey and Lauren Tibjash performing as On The Lam, showcases improv duos of all experience levels every fourth Thursday at 7 PM. This round featured improv from Mike Frye and Joe Lewis (My Special Boys), Scott Shepard and Dionne Atchison (S That D), Chris Hall and Lindsey Russell (Slay’s Anatomy), Jen Thurau and Jon Sauline (JJ’s Fun House), and Cole Galloway and Joe Erickson (Too Bald Dudes).
Improv Night with From Justin to Kelly opened with the debut of brand-new improv team Push and Pull (Patrick Zmina, Sam Dee, Lauren Onkeles-Klein, and Joe Erickson). Then, Justin and Kelly took the stage to show off their signature form, the Walter, a minimalistic monoscene that emphasizes silence, eye contact, and total commitment to the moment.
We are so excited whenever we get the chance to collaborate with Justin and Kelly. Currently on a Spring tour of the Midwest, they are based in New York City, where they are the founders of Countdown Theater, a roaming pop-up comedy space. They also run the annual Countdown Improv Festival in Tampa, Florida, which showcases improv teams of 3, 2, and 1. Off stage, they promote a DIY ethos that encourages improvisers to find their own voices and own their own work.
Looking for a opportunity to perform improv in Cleveland? Our Dynamic Duos comedy night is always accepting submissions! Grab a friend, classmate, lover, enemy, parent, child, or stranger and form a team. Or, submit alone to be paired up with another single-player in a “blind duet.” Submit here.
