ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Carrie Williams is a director, performer, visual artist, and occasional writer of strange sketches with long titles. Most recently she directed POOR CLARE at Case Western Reserve University, and the regional premieres of WITCH and POTUS: or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive at Dobama Theatre. Carrie is a member of a theater cohort called the Greenhouse and the interactive performance group Party of Five, whose evolving interactive piece I Stumbled Through A Magic Portal and All I Got Was This Dumb T-shirt further exemplifies her proclivity for titles that push the boundaries of word count restrictions in program bios.

Katie Booze-Mooney has been performing ever since singing along to the Beauty and the Beast cassette tape became all the rage.  After spending many years in NYC, Katie is excited to make people laugh and cry here in Cleveland. Katie likes karaoke, crossword puzzles, true crime podcasts and snuggling with her cat, Persephone. She also likes studying how theater and improv can deepen your experience as a human! Hooray! You can see her do the improv thing with Cleveland's Comedy Court, IKEA Near Me, Booze & the Boys, and various other guest spots on the Imposters stage.

Amy Schwabauer is an award-winning Cleveland actor, playwright and toy theater creator. Her solo show, “I Wear My Dead Sister’s Clothes”, received critical acclaim in its recent production at Cleveland Public Theatre (December 2025); and in 2024 when the show won the Borderlight Theater Festival ‘Chuck and Char Fowler Audience Choice Award’. In 2022, at the BorderLight Theater Festival, she co-created “Bell, Book and Late Nite Drive-Thru” with Carrie Williams (this is an ongoing project, for witchy updates follow us on instagram @threewitchesbitches). At the same BorderLight Theater Festival,  she and collaborator Jill Levin won the ‘CAN Journal Visual Theatre Award’ for their toy show “Coco and Gigi”.  From 2015-2018, Amy co-created and toured the toy show, “The Events of the Warren County Faire as Observed by a Young Astronaut” with co-creator Mike Geither. In 2017, she won Cleveland Scene Magazine’s ‘Best Actress Award’ for her solo show, “This is Not about my Dead Dog”. Welcome to improv! Here’s where to start.

This class is designed for absolute beginners up to those with some short form or long form improv experience. Each week we will develop your group and individual skills through scene work and exercises.

This course is an introduction to long-form improvisation, based on the style developed by The iO Theater and The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. We will start with a focus on the fundamentals - agreement, listening, and support - as well as the thing that should come across in every scene: the FUN! We will also get into technical improv skills like establishing the reality of the scene, connecting with your scene partner, and playing with emotion.

Class ends in an optional graduation show.

Improv is built on agreement and radical support. But often, in our effort to work together, we create work that lacks mischief and unpredictability. We end up feeling trapped by our own rules -- unable to break free and explore new possibilities. Clown principles can add that sense of risk and play. Learn how to subvert the expectations, blur the lines of fact and fiction, create greater stakes and bring the audience more into your play.

Designed for improvisers of all levels.

THE IMPROVISED TED TALK SHOW

Four improvisers will become instant experts on an array of topics as they present absurd PowerPoints they’ve never seen.

11/14 Peter Hedman, Lisa Sanchez, Cale harter, Special Guest TBD

12/12 Jacob Heiss, Audrey Harkins, Joey Lagzdins, Deena Nyer Mendlowitz (Special Guest)

Hosted & Produced by Maria Serra

Listen to fascinating Ted Talks as you’ve never heard them before - and neither have the performers. Four improvisers will present PowerPoints that they have never seen before in the style of various funny characters and unhinged experts.

Audience members will then have the opportunity to ask these characters about their presentation and even their character lives after each presentation.

CLEVELAND’S COMEDY COURT

We take the audience's problems and put them on trial.

A group of improvisers get someone's problem, and then put that problem on trial with fake attorneys and witnesses for both sides.  Guided by a real fake judge to keep things somewhat on the rails.

Judge (and real life attorney) - Jon Sauline

Cast - Katie Booze-Mooney, Sam Dee, James Catullo, Cole Galloway, Vivian Thomas, Patrick Zmina, Travis Williams, Jen Gallagher

Chad Damiani is on a mission.

Save comedy from cleverness. Or burn it all down.

Watch as he directs Cleveland performers through a perilous modern clown show – one that forces them to dig deep, give more and find solutions to impossible problems. Can these players fully commit to nonsense and give the audience the show of their lives? Or will they crumble under the ruthless pressure of the one-and-only Clown Boss?

A glorious celebration of failure and the cruelest show in clown.
